The Right Answer is the Bible Answer, Today and Every Dayby Lindsey Warren (Reprinted from the Northeast bulletin) Jesus made it clear that He intended for us to recognize that accountable humanity could discover His will with proper effort and openness (Matt. 7:13-14; 21-28; John 8:32). The Savior taught during His earthly ministry that everything which people do in religious activities, they do either by the authority of God or by human authority. Jesus clarified His position by a question in Matthew 21:23-27. No question is -- or can be -- of greater importance than the question of authority in religion. All authority inherently resides in God by virtue of the fact that He is the creator of all that exists other than Himself. Since the Bible is the word of God, what the Bible teaches is as authoritative as if God Himself were to speak from heaven in an audible voice. The "Chain of Authority" goes

Therefore, Christianity is the religion of Biblical Authority. In fact, whatever one does (if he or she is to have God's approval) must be authorized by Bible teaching. Christians need to reach the depth of spiritual maturity that we see Bible authority as a great blessing and not a hindrance to our happiness. Because it allows us to reject all other guidelines and follow THE WAY to truth, Love, and Eternal Life (John 14:6). |
